1. Baby Ju was delivered in Thomson Medical Centre. It is a hospital that specializes in Women and Childcare services.
Mae remarked that during her operation everything went by so fast… Literally.
Her scheduled CS was 930am. Baby Ju came out at 933am. Mae said that the moment the anesthesia was applied, the team already got to work and within minutes Baby Ju was out.
When Mae asked the nurse how many C-sections they do per day, they estimated about 10 per day… and thats PER team of doctors and nurses!
With this, I now realize that Baby Ju was born in a baby factory.

2. As part of the baby supply chain and logistics, an RFID tag is placed in 3 locations. First in Baby’s leg. Second to Mommy’s arm. Third to the baby Cart/Crib.
This is to ensure that the right baby is always given to its right mommy or placed in the right crib all the time.
There is even a tune of Rock-a-Bye-Baby that plays everytime Baby is placed in the Crib or given to Mommy to confirm that baby has been placed correctly.
I am curious what the tune would be if there was a mismatch…
(I am afraid to do an experiment as I might be banned from entering the hospital again.)

3. One of my favorite departments in this facility has been the nursery function.
You simply press a red button, and a baby care specialist will arrive at your location. They will then take baby and return it only when it becomes hungry.
They also return baby calm, with a fresh diaper and perfectly swadled 100% of the time.
Up to once per day, they return baby also given a fresh bath.
I wonder if and how this feature could be replicated at home.

4. Everything else in the hospital also happens on a very predictable schedule.
Breakfast is served at 8am.
Morning snacks at 10am.
Lunch by 12noon.
Snacks by 230pm.
Dinner by 6pm.
Evening Snack by 8pm.
I know there is common advice that goes, pag tulog si baby dapat sabayan.
But what has been happening is pag kumakain si baby, yun din nasasabayan!

5. I like eating hospital food because it feels healthy even if its not as flavorful.
But the down side is I eat a lot of it, kasi “healthy naman”.

6. While looking at Baby Ju…
J3: Ang cute nya na agad no? Hindi na mukhang alien? (Comparing to Mika’s newborn photos)
Mae: Wag mong batiin.
J3: Onga no. Mas okay yung mukhang alien tapos pa cute ng pa cute.
Kesa yung cute tapos pa alien ng pa alien.

7. Will bebe Ju like Jujube?

8. Today we are scheduled to leave the Thompson baby factory.
Goodbye nursery function.
The ‘easy/tutorial mode’ is about to end.
The real game and our next chapter is about to begin.
We’re excited for it 🙂
